I think that we've been through this "cutback production" thing a dozen or so times already.
Novellus makes inanimate, put-in-a-box and stack-on-a-shelf chips!. Hardly the same type of business as GTC. Also, they have 3,500 employees, they're cutting 350.
However, you might have a point about the salary!
