Cisco and some other technology companies are facing a real problem. The severe recession and lack of DISRUPTIVE innovation (over the past decade) has created a situation where Cisco is in the untenable position of competing against their own technology in an abundant second-hand market. The only way out of this situation is some serious disruptive innovation-- such as move to an all-optical internet and fiber to the home (and eventually optical computing). IMO Lightwave Logic could lead the way. The likes of Cisco and Intel have to be careful not to cling to antiquated economic models or they will find themselves in the same situation as the Big 3.

IMO, any national economic stimulus package should have a component which fosters an all-optical internet. The build-out of an all-optical internet with fiber-to-home will create many jobs in the United States and will create a demand for our innovative products in other countries. Moreover, it will allow American technology companies to maintain a competitive advantage over the coming decades. Remember, all-optical network will be eventually lead to optical computing. And optical computing will be the real paradigm shift with American technology leading the way.

GATES.
