I got finally this answer Jmack

Walter: If and when you find out anything could you let me know? I would be interested to know if Avensys is focusing the majority of their attention on "Next Generation" DWDM on their communications components IE Pump Combiners, Fiber Bragg Gratings, Erbium Doped Amplifiers etc; for WDM, DWDM for eventual Deep Fiber PON or DOCIS over PON (DPON). This ia a big deal in my view as it includes the Cable MSO's.

I know Avensys is doing other things but I am interested in finding out if I understand what these particular components actually do in terms of the communications industry. This is complex technology for me to understand and I am hoping that I am interpreting this technology correctly or at least some what correctly LOL. My interpretation is that DWDM, Erbium Doped Amplifiers & Pump Combiners is in direct correlation to or equal to = speed, distance and the number of end users per fiber.

Thanks

I apologize for taking a bit long on this question. I had to get the answers from me peers over on the Technology side as I wasn’t sure enough of the technical implications of your question.

Among other enabling technologies, advanced optical modulation formats have become key to the design of the current wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) fiber systems. DPSK and DQPSK (Differential Quadrature Phase-Shift Keying) are the most promising modulation formats for 40 Gbit/s transmission. The key challenge for the 40 Gb/s market is cost-competitiveness. To address this reality, ITF Labs has invested in the development of a new, more cost-effective generation of DPSK units called micro-DPSK. This new design was launched last spring and several units are in the process of qualification with many of our actual and potential customers.
