Powerful statement from the COO...

VIEW FROM THE C.O.O.

Recently, I made one of the most immense
decisions of my professional career. I chose to
leave the JCPenney / Eckerd Corporation after
nearly 28 years of loyal and successful service.
Gone are the teams of people and millions of
dollars of resources I had available to me to
achieve the company strategic plans and
missions. Gone are the state of the art offices,
meeting facilities, and merchandise
development labs and testing centers encased
in marble and glass. Gone are the many
personal and financial perks and rewards one
earns and acquires after 28 years of service.

So why leave to join an upstart growth company
called Seaview Video Technology, Inc.? Well
that is easy: the people, the product and the
prospects. In the few weeks I have been here, I
have observed a hard working dedicated team of
people working to build this company into
business we can all be proud of. In addition,
Rich McBride asked me to join the company. It
was a decision that took me several months to
make, but one which I am glad I made. Rich
was a friend and a neighbor since I had moved
to Tierra Verde several years ago. In addition, I
had observed the building of Seaview by Rich
from the early stages and had confidence in his
product and business plan. As for the product,
it certainly speaks for itself. Anyone who has
seen the underwater cameras work or viewed
the SecureView lightbulb in total darkness
would understand the potential and prospects of
these products. And, these products are only
the beginning. The prospects of the future are
unending, as the applications are many and the
market untapped. Lastly, I have the prospects
of personal financial gain through the
substantial personal investment I made in the
company before I joined the team.

In the short (no pun intended) time I have been
here, I am amazed at the amount of time and
energy that must be spent fielding constant
phone calls, e-mails and interruptions bordering
on harassment regarding the operation of our
business. Rich has been open to a fault with
information regarding SeaView in the past.
Unfortunately, I believe some individuals have
used much of this for their own personal end
and financial gain, nothing more, while in the
process taking advantage of the true
stakeholder or constituency of SeaView whom
we truly serve. Obviously, it is quite different
than the Fortune 500 company that I had been
accustomed to. And, I take it as a personal
attack on me and the hard working team I have
joined here. But, what will not be different is my
approach to doing business. I was a partner of
the JCPenney Company and in many ways I
still am. Instilled in me are the “Penney Idea”
and the “H.C.S.C. motto” for doing business,
which is the abbreviation for “Honor, Confidence,
Service and Cooperation.”

I cannot personally affect the price of the stock.
And, in reality, it does not affect the current
day-to-day operations of our business nor is
that what I joined this company to do. What I
can do, however, is apply my merchandising,
marketing and product procurement expertise to
the business plan and product plan developed
by the Rich McBride and team. It is through
these efforts that SeaView will grow in sales
and profits and ultimately fulfill the needs and
expectations of all those who have some stake
in our activities as a company.
