Man sets off for charity motorcycle ride around Continental U.S.
Joe Nolfo's send off party will take place at Inn on the Bay motel at 1420 Bayshore Blvd in Dunedin on June 19, 2004. Joe is a fundraiser who in the past has broke a world record in distance swimming to raise funds for the Upper Pinellas Association for retarded Citizens at the Long Center of Clearwater.
Joe was sponsored by the singer Jimmy Buffett when he pushed a racing wheelchair from Florida to California to raise funds for the Humane Society. Joe also sailed a boat solo from Dunedin, Fl to Varo Daro, Cuba where he backpacked across Cuba, writing for a magazine to raise funds for the Save the Manatees foundation. Joe performs in comedy clubs under the show name "Stand up for Manatees". Joe Nolfo is also handicapped (missing left leg). Joe's next endeavor, is a motorcycle ride around the entire American continent solo.
This will be done to raise funds for the Center for People with Disabilities. Joe Nolfo's sponsor Superwipes will attend the send off festivities along with their professional race car and race boat. The drivers of these race vehicles will be on hand to meet and greet the festival goers. Joe Nolfo will be on the premises for interviews.
The festivities start at 1:00pm and will end at 10:00pm. The Jamaican reggae band Jahfari will be playing on the water behind the race displays from 1:00 pm till ???
There will be food and cocktails available for the duration.
