CE devices using DivX video compression system are in planning stage. DixVNetworks, developer or MPEG-4 compatible codec, said it was working with hardware designer e.Digital on broad line of home and portable products that would play or record video made with DivX compression. Effort is to extend use of DivX beyond PC and will include DivX-enabled DVD players, digital video recorders, set-top boxes, camcorders, portable players and more, companies said. First products, expected by year-end, will include digital rights management for secure playback, they said.
