SDIO Now! Customers to Deliver Microsoft Windows CE and Smartphone Devices

BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 16, 2004--BSQUARE (Nasdaq:BSQR - News) today announced market leading consumer electronics manufacturers -- including Panasonic, Renesas Technology Corp., and BenQ Corporation -- recently joined the company's SDIO Now! program. BSQUARE's technology is enabling consumer electronics vendors to provide plug-and-play interoperability with a wide range of small form factor peripherals and storage devices.
Renesas Technology is using BSQUARE's SDIO technology to enable the plug-and-play support for its X-Mobile Card. "Using SDIO technology from BSQUARE, Renesas Technology can now deliver a seamless user experience for mobile e-commerce applications," said Victor Tsai, market development manager, Renesas Technology America. "The X-Mobile Card represents the integration of Renesas Technology' Smart Card and flash memory technology in the SD/MultiMediaCard form factor for support of secure eCommerce transactions."

The world's largest consumer electronics manufacturer, Panasonic, has licensed SDIO Now! for embedding into their line of market-leading Windows CE-based devices. BenQ, another global leader in consumer electronics, is integrating BSQUARE's SDIO technology into their next generation smartphone devices.

About SDIO Now!

BSQUARE designed SDIO Now! to enable manufacturers of Microsoft Windows Mobile and Windows Powered devices to interoperate with chipsets, host controllers, and peripherals that are based on the popular Secure Digital (SD) and Secure Digital Input Output (SDIO) standards. The technology provides companies with a common development platform, eliminating the need for vendors to write individual drivers for each device. With a standard driver architecture and APIs, vendors can feel confident that their products will be compatible with various devices regardless of the choice of SD host controller or platform architecture.
