I wonder if AgES's problems are related to the points made in this position paper:

http://www.energyjustice.net/biomass/

We have had very little discussion of how clean the KDS solution for converting waste to energy is. We know the KDS 6000 design includes a scrubber to address that issue, but have we seen any pollution numbers?

We've talked about the tough environmental laws in California holding up the HP deal (that, and them building a new park). But do we have any idea how close or far from satisfying those laws the TTR plant comes?

This has always been a nagging issue in the back of my mind. I understand that the KDS kills pathogens. I understand that it micronizes to allow very efficient burning. But how efficient when compared to what is required for "clean" air. Will the KDS really eliminate waste, or will it just move the problem from one place to another?

Does anyone know how clean the burning of processed sludge is when compared to the burning of oil that it will replace? If it is cleaner, then there really is an environmental benefit from two angles - putting less pollution into the air and eliminating the landfill problem.

But I have an uneasy feeling that these numbers are not great. If they are, they should be plastered them all over the AgES and FASC web pages.

If anyone has seen published numbers that I am forgetting, please point me to them.
