If both parties are highly motivated, not necessarily--though I think the reality is that, with multiple suitors, and another party having cash, it might well be slower. But another company could decide that Cortex's assets are too good to let go to someone else----you can't be sure of predicting timelines here, any more than with a partnership.

In general--I agree with you, it would take longer. But it's still worth assessing all the options. Someday Cortex is going to have a pleasant surprise for a change.
