O/T 2008 Presidential Election - I believe Barack Obama will defeat McCain/Guiliani in the fall election in spite of nasty negative ads aimed at tying Obama's name to that of terrorists and Saddam Hussein (Obama's middle name is Hussein).

I think Hillary is not going to fare well, and Obama might not take her as a running mate as her Iraq position is opposed to his.

McCain's got health issues, and he and Rudy are both going against the public opinion with their Iraq positions.

I think the 2010 election has a stronger showing by Republicans, and they re-take the oval office in 2012 primarily because so many tough decisions on taxes and Social Security will take place in 2008-2012 it's going to be like it was when Bush ran in 1992. Furthermore, the economy should be terrible in those 4-years. That should set up 4-strong years in the market 2012-2016.

In edit, the 2008 election will be the first election in recent memory that will not feature a former Vice President on the ticket or a President running for re-election.

In fact, we have to go back to 1952 with Eisenhower and Stevenson to get a presidential election without a former vice president or sitting president running.

Prior to 1952 we have to go back to 1928 to get the same situation.
