I haven't seen AMD announce a tape out since the Athlon. The timing is interesting, though.

It seems that they are responding to Intel PR with their own PR.

I am a little confused about Intel roadmap though. When Intel initially announced the Tejas cancellation and persuit of dual core, all here assumed that it meant Dothan and its derivatives. Now, the information that is emerging is that dual Prescott may be the first dual-core chip, which leaves me puzzled.

The assertion in Infoworld that the dual core K8 will fit within 89W (55W and 30W were also mentioned) creates a bar that Prescott may never reach.
