Cessna Granted Organization Delegation Authority By FAA
Wichita, KS - October 30, 2008 - Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, has been appointed by the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an Organization Delegation Authority (ODA) for Type Certification (TC) and Production Certification (PC) for Cessna aircraft assembled in Kansas.
The new authority covers all Cessna aircraft assembled in Wichita and Independence, Kansas, and includes the Cessna 172, 182 and 206 model single-engine piston aircraft, the Model 208 Caravan turboprop, and the full line of Citation business jets. Cessna is the first original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to have TC/PC ODA for both Part 23 and Part 25 aircraft.

“Achieving ODA status is the result of a great deal of work by Cessna and the FAA that shows a commitment both to safety and to efficiency,” said David Brant, Cessna senior vice president, Engineering, whose group administers the ODA process. “FAA rules require that delegated organizations demonstrate a very high level of integrity and experience – high praise for the entire Cessna family designing, producing and supporting our aircraft.”

The appointment is the culmination of a two-year development process by Cessna covering FAA approved processes, quality standards, audits and detailed documentation that gives the company authority to approve type design, produce and license aircraft under FAA regulations for Part 23 and Part 25 type general aviation aircraft. The ODA designation replaces Cessna’s Delegation Option Authority for Part 23 aircraft granted in 1965.
