Re: The IPF idea at start 10 years ago was to save over pretty expencive RISC's at that time. But now, when you can have basic 4P Opteron server for $5000 - and it will dust absolutely anything else you can have for $5000 - what's the point of IPF existance? Just next Alpha, no more, no less.

I've heard this argument before, but time and again, the market proves that performance and positioning will rule over price/performance. That's why AMD isn't the size of Intel today.
