Rich Dixon's hand rendered drawing of the way MR's gold mineralization lays in the ground - Full size pic:
http://ih.fotothing.com/52365.jpg
http://ih.fotothing.com/51721.jpg
The way this was explained to us..... OR they way I choose to explain/interpret what was said:
FIRST OF ALL- THE DRAWING Rich is from the OLD school of mining so unlike the the map (done on a computer) we saw that was comprised of layered gold intercepts EACH representing a grade (represented by a color on the map) plotted on a map specific to the depth/elevation of the interecept.
His drawing was done by hand based on drill core data without a computer. The computerized maps we also saw are done in sequence, according to depth, and are based on drill core data, SO the ore body is in essance is represented by MULTIPLE maps representing the drill depth and it's layers of significant gold intercepts 1 contour line at a time.

The mineralization at MR is layered like a pie crust, thus when miners who didn't understand the mine mineralization conducted mining operations and exploration with the methods available at that time in history, they missed much of the mineralization, sometimes by as little as 5 ft..... Core drill intecepts will vary up and down the length of the cores due to this layering (of varying high grades). Core drills of this property have been as deep as 1500 ft (just to be sure). When you take in the view at MR, one can begin to understand WHY they stopped WAY short of finding ALL the gold. BACK THEN it must have been a nightmare to live and work out there and the nature of the gold deposit coupled with the terrain probably made finding MORE gold out there (that wasn't waving at you) dangerous an not cost effective. STILL they were THERE to be sure.... the jail is still there, the bunkhouse or what's left of it.... old ore chutes. http://www.golden-phoenix.com/Projects/Mineral-ridge/mr_history.htm
http://ih.fotothing.com/52720.jpg
http://ih.fotothing.com/52721.jpg
The nature of the property's mineralization (one of the FEW anticline(peak)/syncline(valley)type gold deposits that have NOT weathered away) COUPLED with War Production Board Order L-208, issued in 1942, calling for the closure of operative gold mines during WW II (that stopped gold & silver mining) and the difficult terrain conspired to "PROTECT" MR from furthur exploration/exploitation and preserved the majority of the gold/silver deposit there in its current state. The property is under explored and barely exploited. PERSONALLY I can't believe we drove around on the property in 15 passenger Vans... there were a few roads that I personally MYSELF would not have attempted in a van full of people. Kept looking for the Big Horn Sheep, there's a REASON they like it out that way..........
Don Prahl (my tour guide) drove us safely everywhere we needed to go. Check out the map below and pay special attention to the lines showing elevation on the map. CONSIDERING THE MILL WAS ON THE VALLEY FLOOR...... IT WAS/IS NO SMALL FEAT TO MINE THERE.

Photo of topgraphical map of MR; Right: The Brodie Pit - INTERESTING mineralization runs from Brodie through to the otherside of the Mary mine.
Full Size Pic http://ih.fotothing.com/50939.jpg ; http://ih.fotothing.com/52366.jpg
Aerial View: http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?city=Blair&state=NV&country=us#a/maps/l:::Blair:NV::US:37.793098:-117.6483:city:Esmeralda+County/m:hyb:7:37.793098:-117.6483:0::/io:0:::::f:EN:M:/e

The ore structure at MR takes sort of a wave formation, and may also contort/convolute back on itself. In its development stage, the alaskite expanded, thereby segregating the layers of gold bearing limestone/quartz. It is the combination of the striated/layered effect of the gold bearing limestone/quartz, with the convolutions of the deposit, along with the steep mountain contours which have the potential to create multiple ore zones, creating the exploration challenge and also potential for overlooked/previously unexplored resources at depth.
There is an EXCELLENT VISUAL interpretation of that statement IN the Brodie Pit. There you can SEE the folds and undulations of the geology as they occurred. I didn’t personally get to go look at this anomaly in the Brodie pit, BUT I do remember the direction the flat wall faced. I’m fairly sure it was North East. http://www.golden-phoenix.com/images/Pit300.gif
Thanks to Bestfitter, I got an EXCELLENT shot of this up close. In the picture above, you can see it on the other side of the shareholders to the upper right side of the picture trending down to the bottom left. My reasoning for the North East direction for this rock is because I saw it AGAIN later in the day INSIDE the Mary Mine and due to the tour discussion of removing the entire top of a ridge that had 3 Power poles on it opposite from the Drinkwater Pit.

APPARENTLY the mineralization there continues in a North Easterly direction from Brodie through the mountain towards the Mary Mine workings and in line with a ridge supporting three power poles (the overburden/roof of the Mary mine)…… I BELIEVE IF there was anything to look for at the mine that could indicate additional sources of high grade gold, THIS IS IT. The same striations and colors occur freely throughout the Mary mine. http://ih.fotothing.com/52366.jpg

When observing the maps of the property ARMED with the visual information afforded on the tour and the information (albeit older info) from the original website, maps of the ore bodies and KNOWN mineralization, one can begin to piece together a picture of WHAT it is that we have out there via Brodie and Mary. http://www.golden-phoenix.com/Projects/Mineral-ridge/mr_deposits.jpg

Add to this that the drawing by Rich Dixon WASN’T just an example of what is happening at MR. It has a compass direction on it. The direction is NW…… when examining the maps of KNOWN orebodies and comparing the depths of their occurance, you find that the Mary Drink water pit and the Mary Mine mineralization actually trends NW while in some places, mineralization trending in a North Easterly direction would indicate that the bands of mineralization are possibly JOINED where there would normally be a gap.

“The exploration potential was analyzed by identifying both mesothermal and epithermal targets. The 5 targets that were identified have potential for the discovery of 3.0 to 4.7 million ounces of gold. These targets are 1) the down dip extension of the Mary Drinkwater zone, 2) the up dip extension of the Mary Drinkwater zone under Deep Springs Hill, 3) The NNE structural zone trending through the Drinkwater deposit, 4) the Brodie NNE structural zone to Oro Monte, and 5) the Brodie-Missouri WNW structural zone. By drilling these targets, the mineable ore reserves held on the property will increase significantly.”

The 52 miles of underground workings in the Mary mine ( http://ih.fotothing.com/52829.jpg ) include a single very large hi grade lens, the Cord Stope from which was extracted something in the area of 300,000 ounces of gold. THIS is where they said we have “30 rock” 30 opt. The Brodie pit, site of the 26 ounce per ton (opt) 5 foot intercept, was originally developed by mining a hi grade lens of 12 opt…….. THEN it could be said we have “26 rock” at Brodie on the OPPOSITE end of the Mary Mine mineralization. The Mary Mine is by NO MEANs played out. They stated that they feel the mother lode for this system was never found...........

It is 5,000 ft from Brodie to Mary North and South's North East edge. Aprox. 3,750 ft of that length (from Brodie to Mary) is NOT represented by an ore body on any of the old maps. Mary North and South are North East of Brodie. The KNOWN mineralization covered by the old maps shows mineralization (1000 ft in width) trending to the North West from the Mary Mine to Drinkwater and to the South East Mary LC . They do NOT connect Brodie's mineralization with Mary's although VISUALLY the rock is much the same and has the same characteristics (high grade gold) to include VERY high grade intercepts(26opt vs 30 opt) While both deposits have gold grading this high, there is not a ton of it all in one place.

IF Rich Dixons drawings are accurate we could have several bands of mineralization that trend North West on the property and are layered at depth and one that joins the bands trending NNE.

It would be important to note a few things about this map I took a photo of :
http://ih.fotothing.com/50939.jpg

1.) NOTE WD-5-9 When examining this part of the map the South West side of this hill has tight contours and the opposite end of the hill trends DOWN to the North East

2.) WD-7

3.) WHERE is WD-2-4?

WHAT is their relationship to the trend line I discussed going North East?

And FINALLY.... WHAT is WD-40 made of? (rotf)

ADD to that a photo of the Black Mammoth Consolidated Mining Company STATEMENT for July 1942 http://ih.fotothing.com/52771.jpg (taken by Bestfitter who has a friend that collects historical documents of the area) They were working 20 Stopes…. Not one of them was LESS than .1 opt SOME were as high as .7 opt. THE AVERAGE worked out around .309 opt………… compare that to some of the current day drill cores in the same area and we can see the mineralization when found seems to be consistent. The OLD Cord Mill core House http://ih.fotothing.com/52770.jpg
The land there was under explored for a reason….. it is AGAINST the law to employ Bighorn Sheep.

IF the band of mineralization and lenses occur the entire length of mountain from the Brodie Pit to the extreme end of the Mary Mine workings which is a high narrower three sided ridge angling DOWN to the North East, and the mineralization there ALSO trends North West, it is easy to see how we could indeed HAVE the ozs on the property previously discussed.

Northern Champion

http://www.golden-phoenix.com/northernchampion.htm

IF the website shortcut isn't working, for a copy of the Technical Report contact oneofsix @ oneofsix1958@yahoo.com
The Northern Champion mine, (formerly named the Spain mine) is comprised of five claims covering approximately 1,100 acres situated along Highway 41 near the town of Renfrew, 70 miles west of Ottawa. The claim group contains molybdenite deposits in two different types of formations located near the surface. The Northern Champion property incorporates the past-producing Spain Mine deposit and yet-to-be-developed Legree Prospect. Previous drilling indicates approximately 500,000 pounds of elemental molybdenum (Mo).

The mineralized material lies flat on the surface in the form of disseminated crystals of molybdenum disulfide ranging from 2-inch diameter to saucer-sized plates up to half an inch thick. Records show the presence of grades in excess of 1% Mo along a 200-foot strike, with exploration potential extending 4,500 feet to the property boundaries.

Mining companies need mines. They seek mines that are well suited to their scope and capabilities. They look for high grade deposits, low entry costs, and good working environments. NC fits that description. With hyperinflation bearing down, our company’s ability to sock away resources at essentially 4 cents on the dollar seems like good advance planning.

Exploration

Golden Phoenix inaugurated the new Atlas Copco drill this week(10 Mar 08) and began drilling and sampling the leach pad at Mineral Ridge. A representative from Atlas Copco was on hand to insure it performed properly. There were no problems and the drill ran flawlessly. The first day, our team drilled roughly 300 feet and has worked up to an average of about 500-to-600 feet per day and is fully operational.

17 Mar 08 - Drilling at Mineral Ridge continues. The rate of drilling out the leach pad has increased three-fold, with some days reaching 1200 feet. The average depth of each hole is about 60 feet. The rig continues to perform beautifully.

The rig is capable of 70,000 lbs of pullback, with a 60,000 lb winch and two speed high torque rotary head. The rig is being set up for reverse circulation (RC) drilling, and is sized for drilling up to 2000 feet. It is road-ready, and can self-mobilize to drill sites at any of the Company properties. Upon acceptance, a custom-designed angle package will be installed on the derrick. The angle gear will allow for drilling up to 45% off vertical. http://www.golden-phoenix.com/mineral_ridge.htm The picture on the right is on the opposite side of the leach pad, above the ADR facility and to the right of the crusher. It was also directly across from the picnic area during the 2008 Mine Tour.
