It was delayed upon request of the defendant's attorney. Such requests are typically granted for many reasons, for instance to allow more time for getting their presentation together.

Has anyone received a VIN and PIN for the VNS?

RE: United States v. James Plant
Case Number 2007R00150 and Court Docket Number 07-375-01

The United States Department of Justice believes it is important to keep victims of federal crime informed of court proceedings. This notice provides information about the above-referenced criminal case.

Charges have been filed against defendant James Plant. The lead prosecutor for this case is LEO R. TSAO. The main charge is categorized as Securities Fraud.

The Crime Victims’ Rights Act gives victims of criminal offenses in Federal court certain rights, including: (1) The right to be reasonably protected from the accused; (2) The right to reasonable, accurate, and timely notice of any public court proceeding involving the crime, or of any release or escape of the accused; (3) The right not to be excluded from any such public court proceeding, unless the court, after receiving clear and convincing evidence, determines that testimony by the victim would be materially altered if the victim heard other testimony at that proceeding: (4) The right to be reasonably heard at any public proceeding in the district court involving release, plea, or sentencing; (5) The reasonable right to confer with the attorney for the Government in the case; (6) The right to full and timely restitution as provided by law; (7) The right to proceedings free from unreasonable delay; and (8) The right to be treated with fairness and with respect for the victims’ dignity and privacy.
We will make our best efforts to ensure you are provided the rights described above. It is important to keep in mind that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty and that presumption requires both the Court and our office to take certain steps to ensure that justice is served. While our office cannot act as your attorney or provide you with legal advice, you can seek the advice of an attoi-nèy VQith repect to these rights or other related legal matters.

The defendant, James Plant, has been released from federal custody.

A hearing is scheduled before Judge NORMA L. SHAPIRO on June 30, 2008, 10:00 AM at Courtroom 1OA for the case which involves defendant James Plant. The purpose of this hearing is for the defendant to enter a plea of guilty.

We are currently in the process of assigning you a Victim Identification Number (VIN) and Personal Identification Number (PIN). We expect to provide you with your VIN and PIN shortly. Once you receive your VIN and PIN, you will be able to access information via the Victim Notification System (VNS), and update your personal information into VNS. We will provide you with additional details when we send you your VIN and PIN.
