False positives are a huge issue with testing right now. Doctors are complaining about having to deal with all the patients whose results are false and very traumatic. To be rasing the cutoff level just to artificially raise the specificity in the study is totally deceptive. I wonder how many of the other scientists looking at the data see the same problem I do?
