I can not emphasise enough that you should seek out other opinions. There are to sources for this that have worked for me. (1) Other doctors

(2) The friggin internet

Funny story

A number of years ago I got good and sick. Nothing would stay in me for any length of time. In 4 months I lost about 40 lbs and my sense of humour. Doctor #1 did not have a clue , so after a bunch of tests he came up with nothing and I got fed up with him and went to Doctor #2 Same story except he brings on a specialist who gets me to drink this radio active crap , finds nothing and gets me lined up for "Exploratory surgery ".
While waiting to get called in for surgey I have a very bad night where I now have internal bleeding. I am not too impressed with this and decide to stop in at a drop in clinic ( on a Sunday ) in a little town that I am visiting.
I am not in the doctors office for more than 30 seconds before he comes up with the correct diagnosis and cure.

" OH I KNOW WHAT THIS IS...EAT YOGURT " It turns out that the drugs I had taken for strep throat (4 months earlier) had wiped out the bacteria necessary to digest food. Apparently this is not that uncommon and most every doctor would be aware of the fact.
I spent hundreds of hours getting checked out and no one has a clue what ails me .Then this guy in some little rinky dink backwater town figures it out in less than a minute.
The cure was so simple that within 24 hours my system was back to normal .

The point I am trying to get across is do not to take the first opinion as being right . It is amazing how much these guys do not know, even the specialists miss the point quite often.

Keep looking for another opinion or alternative.

I have a stack more similiar stories.But who wants to read this crap ? So in a nut shell I can say that there is some great Medical imformation on the net.. lots of crap too.
