Alaska Airlines Inaugurates Nonstop Service From Los Angeles to the Nation's Capital Today
SEATTLE, June 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alaska Airlines (NYSE: ALK) began daily nonstop roundtrip service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Washington, D.C.'s Reagan National Airport today, becoming the only airline to fly the route. "To say we're excited about this opportunity would be an understatement," said Gregg Saretsky, executive vice president of marketing and planning. "Los Angeles is the largest city in the country without nonstop service to Reagan. This will fill a huge void in the nation's transportation network and we're proud to be the carrier to do it." The carrier is using 120-seat Boeing 737-700 aircraft on the route. Flights depart LAX at 12:30 p.m. and arrive in the nation's capital at 8:31 p.m. Westbound flights depart Reagan at 8:15 a.m., arriving in LAX at 10:50 a.m. All flights between LAX and Washington D.C. will be equipped with Alaska's digEplayer inflight entertainment system. The state-of-the-art system gives Alaska's customers the choice of up to 20 full-length features including first run movies and TV shows. Additionally, Alaska is offering double Mileage Plan miles on the route through June 30. Alaska, the nation's ninth largest carrier, and its sister carrier, Horizon Air, together serve more than 80 cities in Alaska, the Lower 48, Canada and Mexico.
