Hey, EZ. If life were fair-----(you fill in the blank).

At some point in time it would be nice if the socialists would give up that stupid idea that everyone should be equal in every single respect. It never has worked and never will. Fairness would be if we all had equal abilities and were all of equal worth. I suspect that if we confiscated every sheckel, ruble, dinar, euro, dollar, rand, and whatever, within a short period of time the equal wealth would be redistributed and be very unequal all over again. Mostly the democrats' desire for "fairness" is simply a desire to buy votes from the poor.

I would like to see a few "fairness" items come into play. We need to do something about a system that rewards incompetence, both in the social arena and the corporate world. There is no excuse for people being paid the same wage for unequal performance, whether it be in an auto manufacturing plant or a public school. There is also no excuse for a CEO of a corporation being given a bonus when the company he runs loses money. To this end, I would change a few rules.
1. No CEO can sit on the board of directors of another company. Also, no politicians or retired politicians may sit on such boards. This would prevent CEOs from voting each other nice bonuses and salary packages.
2. Stock options issued in lieu of salary cannot be sold, but must be redeemed for restricted stock that has to be held for five or more years before it could be sold. Better yet, eliminate the issuing of options in lieu of salary.
3. A mandate that no executive of any company can be paid a salary that is more than twenty times what the average worker in the company makes.
4. Change the rules that allow unions to "target" one company when negotiating a new contract. If they strike one company, they must strike them all. Also, eliminate the union shop provisions and make it possible for a company to hire replacement workers.
5. Limit the payment of welfare to one year, with extensions provided the recipient is getting good evaluations in a training or education program, or require the recipient to practice an effective method of birth control while on the public dole so as not to increase the population of recipients.

I'm just getting started, but time grows short. Our archery deer season opens tomorrow. I must do another hard job. I'm off to camp for a couple of days. Hold the fort.
