PFMH.OB is Bringing Benefits to Patients and Medical Professionals with Their Core:TX® Therapy Tool

Over the past nine years, the medical staff and computer experts at Performance Health Technologies, Inc. (PFMH) have collaborated to create an advanced software and medical technology program called MotionTrack™, the company’s versatile proprietary technology platform. This innovative technology is the core of Performance Health’s device and computer software system that tracks and monitors motion and movement in real-time, ultimately providing instant visual feedback to the user and medical professionals.

From MotionTrack came Core:Tx®, a therapy tool that is continuing to gain interest from orthopedic surgeons and neurologists, occupational therapists and physical therapists, as well as speech pathologists. The Core:Tx® medical application is a motion-sensing system that allows users to gain visual feedback on their movements to enhance motor learning and manage muscular re-education. The technology was designed to leverage the unique features of Performance Health’s’ proprietary software and algorithms. MotionTrack combines these algorithms with wireless inertial sensor technology to capture and output human motion data, creating a broad spectrum of potential applications.

The Core:Tx® system for medical professionals is a remarkably versatile therapy tool. It can be used to treat many conditions and injuries where neuromuscular re-education is a primary aspect during the rehabilitation process. The system comes with several straps that can be attached to different joints or muscle groups, such as the hip, knee, ankle, spine, shoulder, and wrist.

Performance Health created Core:Tx® for stroke survivors, and it has a set of pre-calibrated exercises available for the following joint areas and muscle groups; shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, and ankle. Because the device does not stimulate movement, it is necessary for the stroke survivor to be able to move their affected limb on their own.

For all medical professionals looking for new and exciting technology, Performance Health believes that their Core:Tx® system brings a multitude of benefits. Core:Tx® has the ability to measure and track functional range of motion, and measure the quality of functional motor control. It provides an environment where the patient is cognitively involved, which keeps the user engaged and motivated through many repetitions and numerous exercises. It provides real-time audio and visual feedback that can compensate for a potential lack in other feedback needed for motor learning. Medical professionals will find that it is easy to use, allowing the therapist to stimulate and measure the patient’s ability to perform functional movements.
