my dad used both the m1 carbine and m1 garand. we have a pos carbine made by universal in miami. those miami gunmakers are the best!!lol.

i bought dad a dandy late 1940s springfield armory M1 garand.
i lucked out and caught "violators" on the farm while i just happened to be carrying that telephone pole of a rifle. i laid the trap and took em out. the deer on our property are under executive protection right along with our livestock.
ya mess with em and your ticket is punched. 4 legged violators of course. lol.

but the M1 carbine was one helluva weapon in close quarters combat. for size and weight and detachable clip i would take it over the M1 anyday in close quarter and especially jungle conditions and terrain. you shouldnt have to have a caddy to carry your rifle for you. and with the M1 a caddy would be nice at times.
