I think a lot of the time when there is no response from us to the ridiculous posts from irresponsible keyboard addicts people tend to think that there must be some truth to it. But there comes a time when something needs to be said and the best place to do it is here. I would prefer our employees not post there, but that is their choice.
The law suit we are currently involved in mentioned 1 to 10 John Does and it was stated that way for a reason and now it becomes more apparent to everyone. If it were me, I would be careful of what I posted on there - especially when it seems to be just hearsay, false assumptions and manipulation of words. There are a lot of unfounded allegations floating around, and many of them are being reported by individuals who say they used to work for us. I invite people to do background searches into those who are alleging these activities and and also to feel free to ask why such individuals seem to have an axe to grind. The adage of saving little old ladies is humorous at best and sad to say the least.
We have a world class wreck site and dive every chance we get. Whatever happened to those "deep divers" who approached us with their representative and bragged of the great riches they had discovered on the edge of the reef? They took advantage of us and disappeared. Why isn't Wreck Tom out at his site every day like we are and using his clam shell bucket to haul everything up - destroying the site? I don't want to start a firestorm of attacks, but if these deals were so great, why aren't they in the headlines today? Perhaps we did the right thing in severing our ties with those who have proven by their non-results that they were only trying to take advantage of us. What happened to Antigua and the promise many months ago from a former employee that those permits would be in place in 2 weeks?
We are on good terms with the Dominican government. The last time I personally met with their reps a few weeks ago I looked around and not one of those who say we are in "doo doo" where in that meeting. The head of the conservatory - our direct government link - expressed interest in diving with us and he was invited to come at any time. They are very appreciative of the work we are doing and we are a wide open book for them. We talked about the condition of the wreck and leaving parts of it in pristine condition once the salvage is complete for generations to dive on. I personally invited him and any navy divers to come at any time and he responded that he would like others to have the opportunity to see a world class wreck as it is rare to have the chance to see a wreck like this.
We are finding some great things on this wreck - things that have really caught us by surprise. We follow the advice and requirements of those who allow us to be there and release only the information we are allowed to. Those who attempt to read into our communications or feel the need to try and disrupt what we are doing, for whatever reason, must be identified as those who really have no accurate information and have ulterior motives other than their self proclaimed messianic protection of the masses.
