CBS (concrete block & steel) construction reaches its peak strength at 25 years, and goes downhill from there. Lumber, if properly protected and maintained, will last at least seven generations from my experience, as long as ya keep fresh stone footers under it. And some of the wood creations I've built, I expect to survive tsunami after tsunami for thousands of years to come.
