Further growth is anticipated this year following the announcement of new scheduled services to Tehran, Stockholm, Perpignan and Galway; the introduction of a second daily New York service; and the launch of a brand new transatlantic airline, flyblu, to be based at Birmingham which will begin scheduled services to three destinations in Florida.

Regular visitors to this site will notice the adoption of our full commercial name, BluArrow (or the short version blu), throughout the site in place of the friendly, but legally difficult name flyblu.




Issues have been raised both sides of the Atlantic with carriers who fear that they might be mistaken for us. Speaking personally, I have been unable to understand why being thought to be connected with one of the most exciting and stylish plans in aviation in the UK today should be so bad, but some folks seem troubled by this so we wont stand in their way! If they want to lose sleep over it - I wont stop them!



Happily our progress with CAA and various authorities continues to bear slow fruit, and despite the sadness we have to handle over our delays, we remain boyant and confident about the future for the team and for YOU, our customers!


So... as previously announced, from 2004, BluArrow will make history by becoming the first scheduled airline to fly non-stop from Birmingham International Airport to 3 destinations in Florida - Orlando Sanford, St Petersburg / Clearwater for Tampa and Fort Lauderdale for Miami and the Keys.








We are very aware that a few Internet forums (consumer and industry) have recently carried postings expressing doubts about our ability to launch this venture this year. This has caused some people to worry about their plans and others to hoot with delight as they once again enjoy the thrill of being negative!


We are doing something here that has not been done in twenty years, and it isn’t easy! If it were easy there would be lots of airlines offering services to Florida, but there isn’t! However, it is easy to criticise and to find fault with those who are trying something new and unusual.


I want to assure anyone who has tried to become a customer in recent weeks, and anyone who is considering being a customer in the months and years ahead that this airline will be commencing operations in the shortest possible time, will be delivering the finest economy service across the Atlantic at the fairest price possible and will undoubtedly make some mistakes along the way.




In my experience, mistakes that improve are always valuable. They are not burdens but garlands, to be worn without embarrassment. BluArrow will not be perfect because this CEO is not perfect, but we care about this venture, we care about how people are treated and we care about your experience when you do come to fly with us.




Our dealings with UK and US regulators continue unabated. As soon as we can give firm guarantees about the date of flight 1 we will advise you. In the meantime, ask yourself if you wouldn’t prefer to see us make this work than help to pull it down. Those 31” pitch seats are looking pretty tight to me!
