Maybe she does. Certainly McCain feels similarly about outer shelf production. In the case of oil I believe a tax of some sort is probably necessary to give politicians a politically expedient way to back allowing exploration and production. I think many people will accept exploration if the tax is tied to research and development of alternative fuels and energy sources that break our dependence on crude oil. I am in that camp. This is really our last chance to get it right.
