No doubt that greasing palms is just part of doing business in that part of the world. I'm just surprised that something like this would go so far as to actually shut down the mine. Looks bad on Ashanti as far as I'm concerned. Odd timing on that Cassidy release with respect to meetings with government officials coming out just before this happened. Being in Guinea they probably knew what was going on at Siguiri and wanted to make a statement before the news broke.
