the energy reconfiguration of the country doesn't really need to be partisan.
The biggest risk i see is if they allow the natural gas expansion to be unregulated such that it will become a near-monopoly like the oil companies are now. 100 years later, our economy still feels the effect of the Rockefeller/standard oil monopoly.
NIMBY will always be a factor. You should hear the bitching about the visuals of the windfarms planned on my forest. The Paiutes are even saying it will ruin their religion if windfarms are allowed. Unless they get a piece of it, of course.
But on the Ft. Bidwell reservation their vision is obscured by all the steam coming off of the natural hot springs that they seem to have a lot of trouble developing. They want the money and cheap electricity but cannot agree on anything other than the development should be paid for by the BIA.
