eConnect's First Group of eCashPads Sent to Consumers Today

SAN PEDRO, Calif., Jan 2, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- eConnect (OTC
Bulletin Board: ECNC) announced today that the first group of its eCashPads was
shipped today to a limited number of consumers at 4:30 p.m. (PDT).

Software installation programs for these eCashPads will be placed at
www.econnectholdings.com (http://www.econnectholdings.com) under a new section
titled "software downloads". This software will support Win95/Win98 with the
first release, with an update to provide support for WinME/Win2K soon after.

ATM card with PIN entered same as cash Internet transactions on line debit
support is dependent on Regional ATM card network trials that are expected to
begin in the first quarter of 2001.

The next shipment of eCashPads is scheduled to arrive in mid-January at NDFC
where they will be immediately injected with a Master Session Key and then
shipped to a growing list of eCashPad consumers. The reason for the limited
shipment approach is the test of robustness for eCashPad tech support, product
support and customer service support.

The eConnect eCashPad sells for $59.95 and enables the Internet consumer to
prevent financial card data from being seen or stored at the web merchant's
site, and will also enable instant cash ATM card with PIN Internet payments
between countries such as the United States and the Caribbean and Latin America,
which will be supported by the eConnect USA and the eConnect Caribbean S.A
Hosts, to be later followed by the eConnect Ireland and eConnect China hosts.
