Stocks per price group:

It is clear that the $5-$9.99 range is superior to other price groups - especially the one right below it ($3.00-$4.99). Also, the sample size is hundreds for each group, so there isn't much doubt left.

We've speculated on this before, but the most logical explanation is that more people are willing to buy a stock when it breaks $5.00 than before it does.
