Q: When can we expect results?
A: Immediately after I took over as CEO last September, I initiated what I’ve called my
“successor’s due diligence” package. I ordered both financial and operational audits to be
conducted in all four of our offices (San Antonio, Texas; Santa Cruz and La Paz, Bolivia;
and Buenos Aires, Argentina). Even though we identified problems in Bolivia as well as the
US and Argentina, the company was able to quickly resolve each of them and we published
our consolidated end-of-year financial statements. Using the reports and financial statements,
I identified projects that had become too costly to continue or would be an obstacle to reaching
a positive cash flow status and increased value. And that’s how my “successor’s due diligence”
became the basis for eliminating both staff and projects.
