No. You are the one that is cheapening McCains service and his devastating experience of being a POW .

Vice Admiral James B. Stockdale was the highest ranking officer held as a POW during the Vietnam war and held at the Hanoi Hilton in Vietnam. His cell was two doors down from John McCain's and he speaks highly of him.

Being somewhat of a history buff and having read numerous books from that era James Stockdale has been quoted in some books that it was no dishonor to be broken by the Vietnamese.

As a former Vietnam Era Veteran who served with former P.O.W. Captain Collins Henry Haines as my executive officer aboard the U.S.S. Okinawa I have first hand knowledge of living around a former P.O.W. for approximately 1 1/2 years.

I know its easy to post just about anything about a person if you neither know them or the circumstances or conditions they may have endured.

People who have endured situations like being a P.O.W. or walking point in Vietnam as a friend of mine did are not so cavalier(adj.) as most who post from a vantage point far from the action or the trauma endured.

BullNBear52 my post is nothing personal towards you but since you say in your post about your comment being a fact its always nice to know that there are many more facts to which neither of us are privy.

I respect John McCain for serving just as Stockdale and Haines did and IMHO we owe our freedom of speech to this very service and sacrifice.

As I write this post and watch how prim and proper the Olympics appear to be and the appearance of freedom in China it is not what it seems.

I am neither here to agree or disagree with your post but allow for more perspective when it comes to finishing the fact book on a person being broken and why and how.

If I were in that same cell in Vietnam during that era I may walk away broken and ashamed but later in life realize that the degree of violence and torture towards all P.O.W.'s was unethical, against the Geneva Convention and hardly something which can be trivialized in a IHUB two sentence post.

Well actually it can since you did it but it does not take away from what those brave P.O.W.'s endured for the benefit of ALL Americans.

In conclusion John McCain is no saint and an imperfect man who has endured hardship more than most human beings. Is he the best choice to lead this country? That question I cannot answer and only God Almighty knows that answer and last I checked he wasn't asking my opinion nor wishing for my feedback on such.

Have a good night.

Brent
