Hey Phil (or anyone)...Getting into this canning stuff...Just jarred up a mess of pickles this week...Think I have the bug now.
Question is>> I wanna pickle and jar up some hot peppers with sliced carrots and maybe califlower for a table condiment (like they have on the tables in almost every cafe in Texas).
Anyone have a recipe for trying this?
Main Ingredients>> Sliced cheery or jalapeno peppers
Sliced carrots.
Small chunked up califlower crowns (pcs)..
You know what I'm looking for Phil? If my memory serves Theres a glass lidded jar with a small spoon on almost every table in every cafe in Texas...Ya just pickup the lid and scoop ya few pcs out to eat along with your meal.
Do we actually jar it up and hot bath the jars,(same as making pickles) then let them piclke for 4 weeks before putting them out as condiment..?
I did see the recipe uses Olive oil instead of water with the vinegar.
Any pickling spice recipes would be helpful as well...Been to 3 stores looking for "Pickling Spices" No luck..I'm a booneys livin kinda guy. Our small stores leave a bit to be desired....
It's late for me...I hope this is understandable.
Thanks for having the board with such a good collection of growers and people that like good home cookins...

PS. Thanks Janice for directing me to this board...I'm really getting into this after you showed me that dill piclkle recipe..Something I've always wanted to do and it's cool knowing I did it myself. And much easietr than I'd ever imagined.
Thanks again guys.
Bob
