It could be transferred to at least a semi-private plan for EVERYONE. As we move forward, we could wean off of the government. If nothing else, privatize death benefits within Social Security. Redirect a few bucks of S.S. into a term life insurance plan that renews and will pay more than that $212 bucks when your spouse dies. That'd be a great start.
