KUALA LUMPUR: Stanton Technologies's Singapore-based company Movaio Pte Ltd would be working with China Teleformation Culture Media Co Ltd (CNLive.com) to transmit the Beijing Olympics Games to over 400 million China Mobile subscribers and Internet users worldwide.
The agreement would provide China Mobile subscribers with Video On Demand (VOD) services as well as enriched Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) mobile content such as news, entertainment, film, music, sports, animation, comedy, games and education from the CNLive.com website.
With Stanton’s IPTV services, China Mobile subscribers could also use camera-equipped phones to scan bar codes from various sources including newspapers, print advertisements and even T-shirts that would allow them to download videos to their phones.
Stanton’s IPTV model is unique as it provides integrated end-to-end solutions, allowing for IPTV content to be viewed on demand over mobile networks with a minimum EDGE connection.

The server-based solution also provides new opportunities for advertisers, as it is able to determine the right target audience based on the content delivered.
"The launch of 3G services in 10 cities ahead of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games has jump-started Mobile TV in China and 15 million new users are expected to use it to access the various sporting events at the eagerly awaited Summer Games," said Stanton Technologies chairman Sheikh Sultan Al Qasimi in a statement released yesterday.
He added that such convenient access via mobile technology was likely to see a surge in demand for VOD.
This, he pointed out, would signal the start of a new dynamism for the company in a flourishing market (China), which had great growth potential and strong synergy with Stanton.
Stanton had also secured the rights to deliver digital content via the Stanton Media Portal to DiGi Telecommunications and another leading telco in Malaysia; while tie-ups with companies in Vietnam, India, Thailand and the Ukraine were also in the pipeline.
