Tenchu, deja vu with a difference -

K6 was only a desktop chip and Intel put the screws to AMD by financing the business with server chips & protecting the corporate desktop.

Now we have many of those corporations moving Opterons into the server room to handle demanding departmental computing needs.

The claim from the K6 days that AMD is only a home user solution no longer works. When IS approves AMD Opterons for platforms that impact dozens (even hundreds) of users, they would look pretty foolish claiming AMD processors aren't good enough for laptops and desktops.

Opteron in the server room means A64 can be qualified based on price & performance for individuals.
