Apple not standing still: details of ipod update

Good news and bad news for EDIG regarding what IMO is the closest competition to our jukebox player on the market.

Good news, Apple's iPod update does not include windows compatibility, so the Treo is still the smallest windows-compatible jukebox player around. Also the new version is $100 more, and the original did not see a price cut, so the Treo remains ahead on price.

Now the bad stuff, besides the upgrade in capacity to 10Gb, Apple is managing to squeeze more and more useful features into the player, all via software (existing iPods can even be firmware upgraded). The new version can now serve as a basic contact manager, and now has equalizer settings (20 presets). And before you go saying, well EDIG's player has this, the interesting thing about Apple's implementation is that
the settings can be saved for each song individually, so there is no need to keep fiddling with the settings when the songs change. Again, I see apple leading the way with implementing simple, yet very useful interface enhancements. They are the kind of features where people see, gee, that's obvious, but nobody has implemented them yet.
