The iMac has an external monitor port, in case of that emergency.

And when your mobo goes in that tower case it too needs to go to service.

My doctor's office switched to iMacs last year. They all run off a centralized server - the data isn't stored locally.

It's almost impossible to cover all eventualities, and it's certainly murphy's law that the one you didn't anticipate will be the one that gets you.

But I probably speak from a privileged position, having a good dozen or so machines at my disposal.
