Lung cancer screening trials started in June. This one is interesting because of the basis it started. That was the dog trained to detect cancer and BTW, very accurately. They isolated a hydrocarbon given off by cancer cells. Cancer cells need an unlimited supply of sugars and if the advanced cancer had not affected a vital organ, the patient will basically die of malnutrition. I know someone who weighed 50 lbs when it was finally over from lung cancer, so yes, I have learned a lot about cancer. Cancer cells just cannot get enough oxygen to efficiently burn all that sugar so the metabolize via other methods and that is what produces the detectable hydrocarbon.
