LOL...I forgot that you live right down there. Sounds like you got a good piece of this one!

Really little kids have just never thought about what it might be like to be flattened by a few tons of debris laying on them while they slowly die of thirst or exposure or blood loss from massive injuries.

And of course we all feel basically INVINCIBLE well into our 20s and 30s before we begin to contemplate our own mortality for the first time. So we drive 100 mph without a second thought, confident that "we are in control and nothing will happen TO ME! That's just something that happens to other, STUPID people."

Then comes the 40s and 50s. You've seen your parents and even some friends bite the dust and realization of your own mortality really starts to kick in. You've seen by now how many ways you CAN die...some bad ways and some REALLY BAD ways and you start to look at your life in "percentages used up" and "percentages left to go."

You and I are in our 50s so we're better than 50% done and probably closer to 75% in reality. Now life starts to become "precious" and second thoughts and regrets of wasted time become a factor.

So, is it wisdom or just fear? Hmmmm...I think realization of personal mortality is wisdom gained from watching and thinking. And that SCARES THE SHIT OUT OF ME! LOL

What I worry about if we have a big quake up here is "will I die from a clunk on the head by the ceiling caving in or will I just have a freakin heart attack out of fear?!"

I've decided to try to stay calm and just sit in a doorway while I wait it out. Then I have to haul ass up the hill on N.E 17th St and hope the Tsunami isn't more than about 50' high.

After than it'll be a slow death from volcanic ash and poisonous gases anyway though so...I may just kill myself now and get it over with. LOL
