CPST news

These systems will convert sunlight to grid electricity using a parabolic solar concentrator to focus the sun’s energy into a solar receiver that provides enough heat energy to drive Capstone’s modified turbine and power electronics. Under the initial phase of development, Capstone will make modifications to the existing microturbine to operate on superheated air and integrate the microturbine with the HelioFocus solar concentrator system.

SOUNDS SO INCREDIBLY WAY BETTER THAN DRIVING TURBINES VIA COMBUSTION OF FOSSIL FUELS.

I think, on first blush, that where the rubber meets the road here are the economies of scale, and whether or not a microturbine is the most efficient way to produce the energy.

I suspect that the real benefit of this technology will be to power small communities, kibbutzim?, off the grid, with concentrated solar arrays that will require smaller footprints than current concentrated solar arrays.

I think that this can't be a solution, on the scale that CPST turbines operate, to drive an alternative to larger grid issues.

We shall see

Am still waiting to hear why the etf FAN has included CPST in their wind energy portfolio.
