You got that right.
Shorts may have 'found' at least a million and a half shares to borrow and sell to the Russell funds.
The might even have shorted more than 1.5MM that day , and covered some of them in the days immediately following Russell Recon. Day , days in which TIV was trading in the $6's and during a period when hundreds of thousands of shares traded in a very few days.
Anyway , as of 7/10 , 4.09MM shares short , near the all-time record high short interest of 4.16MM back in June of 2006.
I guess sooner or later we'll get to see whether the short's "interest" in this stock will be rocket fuel or lead weights.
