IMHO I believe the Factory Five announcement was premature, because they have not signed off on the production prototypes or models. Our partnership will (possibly) go forward from there.
The news of a OEM production model was not really enthusiastically accepted by most "founding" members of the GTM owners clubs or forum there.
It is unknown at this time whether or not Dave Borden even brought up the matter while on his visit with Factory Five, and if it did, Im sure F5 would ask Dave to keep a lid on it until THEY decide to step forward and publically acknowledge the relationship between Revenge and Factory Five, outlining or confirming the arrangement.
The fact that Factory Five has not stepped forward to either deny or repute the "partnership" pr tells me that perhaps the pr contains enough truth to it to stand. This also will be my stand with Mr Borden.
Remember that their forums are for a good part VENDORS who themselves build GTM's and parts for GTMs for clients. The production car news could not have been welcome and Im sure they will be finding out on their own. If nothing more on the subject surfaces, I'll take the absence of a denial as a positive for RVGD longs and Peter.
If you bother to read the thread you'll find that these founding members have developed a certain attitude of "ownership" of the GTM development and working their way through the cars identified problems and assembly hitches.
The GTM owners club is somewhat "exclusive" and that flavor comes through their postings. The GTM is also very expensive to build (for a KIT CAR)and requires a great amount of skill determination and HELP.
As long as the GTM remains "exclusive" in that only a select group of people can build and own one, the GTMs success and consequently Factory Fives success will be limited and not reach the companies stated goals of making the opportunity available for the "everyday man or woman" to own a genuine SUPERCAR normally costing hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Factory Five needs to make the GTM more saleable to a wider variety of people, not just motorheads and racing enthusiasts.
Revenge Designs and Peter just might be able to help them make that happen with a yearly production and sales of what Factory Five has sold in total to date over the YEARS.
I imagine Factory Five has literally millions of dollars tied up in vehicle development, but has seen little return by the sale of just over 200 kits in total.
The GTM kits require just too much expertise right now for the average Joe, and the costs to have one built are just too high. Without a company doing what Revenge has stated they will do, the GTM WILL remain exclusive to the rich and privilaged. That is not in line with Factory Five stated company goals....
There has always been the Penske Supercar rumour, and hey guess what? We seem to have a bevy of Penske Honda dealers as current clients. That the GTM will be a huge hit I have no doubt.
Can Peter pull it off? That is the ONLY question I really ask myself, not "is Revenge Designs a scam?". I have made the effort to phone around and Revenge is real enough to the dealers.
Its a long shot but then again this is pinkyland where pulling large profits always comes with large risks. Some ya win some ya lose.
have a great weekend. P.
