Yes I understand that entitlments don't include defense spending but upon a full examination it is nothing but an entitlement program. The military is nothing but a handout to 2 million servicemen who don't work or produce anything that furthers prosperity. Gov. military contracts are nothing but handouts to defense contractors to produce nothing that furthers prosperity. The US military is only concerned in starting wars to further their own wealth as well as the most of the congress that are lobbied to pass the defense spending bills. If the gov. just simply handed out 1 trillion a year to all these recipients the US economy will still be same. It's simply inflationary spending, nothing is produced, just like an entitlement program. Just so happens that know the rest of the world is hip to it and doesn't want to finance idiotic wars anymore. So the race is on. How to get as much money as you can and convert it to gold or something other than dollars before the world economy goes belly up. Over the last 20 years the gov. has spend 15 trillion on the defense, not to mention whatever the number is that it spends on medical cost and entitlements to retired military personal. Hell, the country has a 10 trillion deficit. What did we get for all that money. We got 2 iraqi wars, one afganistan war, one possible iranian war, one possible pakastani war, loss of goodwill throughout the world, oil prices that went from $20 to $145 per barrel, collapse of the housing market and banking industry. But you know what's been going up? All the defense contractors!!! What an entitlement that's been.
