The lease example was from several years ago...

The Prius was the first generation Prius. I don't know the exact year.

aj's and my point is that many do not run any calculations to see if a purchase makes sense. Motor Trend did the calculations on the price difference/fuel economy of a Hybrid Camry vs. a regular Camry. If I remember correctly, $3.00 gas the Hybrid version was about $75 more per month in ownership costs. (not counting resale or repairs) At $4.00 gas now it makes economical sense, UNLESS the repair costs on a Hybrid are ridiculous.
