Those flood waters are so toxic that people are told not to set foot in them let alone drink it. Furthermore, the toxic flood waters pumped into the gulf of Mexico after Katrina create a twenty mile dead zone along the whole gulf coast that will take centuries for the environment to rectify.

Have you seen the spike in electricity rates? In Texas it spiked over 1000% and drove a substancial number of small distributors bankrupt. When cheap energy goes away, only the ultra rich are going to benefit from desalination plants. What about the rest of us? Wouldn't it be better to consider the environment just a little before deciding that it's an easy target for off-loading the toxic products of societies faulty systems? There's abudance for all from mother earth if we don't keep kicking her in the teeth every moment of every day.
