b) If you want him on your side, you give him a deal
c) In return for (b) he opens doors for you to succeed
d) If you don't, he closes lots of doors you previously had open

Isn't business in Asia based on who you know and how you know them and how much respect they have for you? It's not yet fully capitalist yet ? :)
