I went through this plenty of times with both Ameritrade and ETrade. I now have a checking account through ETrade just for the purpose of transfering funds immediately to buy stocks. The checking account is attached to me trading account and it actually gets better interest than a savings account at a bank. The funds go immediately into my trading account after I click the transfer button. They also have savings accounts that draw an even higher interest rate. Granted, all rates stink now a days but more is better for that scenario.
