LONGFORD ENERGY INC.-APPOINTMENT OF THE HON. PIERRE PETTIGREW AND DAVID ARGYLE TO BOARD
At Longford Energy Inc.'s annual general and special meeting of shareholders held on June 10, 2008, Pierre Pettigrew and David Argyle were elected to the board of directors.
Mr. Pettigrew, PC, has had a distinguished career as a Canadian federal cabinet minister, serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister for International Trade in his last positions in public office. Mr. Pettigrew also served as Minister of Health, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Minister of Human Resources Development and Minister of International Co-operation. As a cabinet minister, he chaired numerous working groups on difficult international trade issues and lead trade missions to China, India, Russia, Germany, Algeria, Morocco, South Africa, Nigeria, Mexico and other countries. From 1985 to 1995, he was an international business consultant with Deloitte.
Mr. Argyle is currently the president and chief executive officer of Dynamite Resources. Prior to joining Dynamite, he was the managing director of Tau Mining. Mr. Argyle brings with him 20 years experience in senior management positions on resource projects in China, South East Asia, Central Asia and Australia. He holds a degree in commerce from the University of Western Australia and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
Mr. Pettigrew and Mr. Argyle join Stan Bharti and Ahmed Said on the board of directors, whom were re-elected by shareholders at the annual and special meeting of shareholders.
