Press Release: The Fight Network inks deal with the MFC

TORONTO, ON – June 4/08 – The Fight Network announced that it has finalized a deal with The Maximum Fighting Championship (MFC), North America’s fastest rising Mixed Martial Arts promotion. Fight fans will have the opportunity to view eight unaired MFC events starting later this month in Canada and the UK.

As part of the agreement, The Fight Network will also broadcast the next three MFC events plus provide coverage of the weigh-ins beginning with MFC 17: Hostile Takeover on July 25th at the River Cree Resort and Casino in Edmonton.

“We are excited to be adding these MFC events to our programming lineup," said Anthony Cicione, The Fight Network’s Senior VP of Programming and Production. “Securing the rights to these action-packed Canadian shows further strengthens our position as a global brand providing these fights in all our territories.”

Fight Network fans will have ringside seats to the following two-hour events this year:

MFC 12: High Stakes – For the first time ever, the MFC heavyweight title is up for grabs as the number one contender and Hawaiian sensation Scott “Punk Haole” Junk takes on Jimmy “The Titan” Ambriz. Also see light heavyweight power-puncher Roger “The Hulk” Hollett square off against Shane Biever, and catch the MMA debut of Ryan Ford.

MFC Lucky 13 – The MFC light heavyweight title is at stake in the fight all of Canada is waiting for: challenger Roger “The Hulk” Hollett battles defending champion and UFC veteran Victor “The Matrix” Valimaki.

MFC 14: High Rollers – In the main event, UFC legend and Ultimate Fighter showman “Mr. International” Shonie Carter is up against young gun Brad Zazulak. And in a showdown of unbeaten welterweights, Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford goes up against Mike Sorensen.

MFC 15: Rags to Riches – The bad blood has boiled over. It is now time for Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford to go against “The Secret Weapon” Pete Spratt in a welterweight clash. In addition, two impressive middleweights make their MFC debut as Jesse Forbes faces Chris Camozzi.

MFC 16: Anger Management – Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford is up against his toughest challenge yet as he tangles with H.I.T. Squad member and Matt Hughes training partner C.J. Fernandes. Don’t miss the fireworks as Aron “The Poster Boy” Lofton meets Jason “The Show” Kuchera in a light heavyweight explosion.
