Quik Pix Inc. Releases New Versions of ColorBlind(R) Prove It! and Prove It! Network Monitor Calibrating Software for Macintosh(R) OS X
PR Newswire - May 05, 2004 09:30

BUENA PARK, Calif., May 5, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- QPI (Pink Sheets: QPIX) today announced the release of an updated version of its ColorBlind Prove it! software. Prove It!, V 5.0, and Prove It! Network v5, support OS X platforms on Macintosh computers.

"We are pleased to introduce this new version of software, which is yet another step forward in allowing QPI/ColorBlind to capture its share of the $43 billion digital imaging marketplace," said John Capezzuto, CEO. "ColorBlind software is uniquely positioned to provide accurate color displays for all e-commerce business and therefore we anticipate an increase in our sales as a result."

Prove it!, v 5.0, for Mac OS X and Windows, provides a simple and effective method by which to calibrate and profile computer monitors. The software uses a powerful set of visual calibration screens, or optional measuring instruments, to guide the user through the calibration and profiling process.

"Our latest release of Prove it! will support more monitors and devices than ever before," said John Capezzuto, QPI's President. "The new version supports instruments from X-Rite, Sequel Imaging, and GretagMacbeth, among others. Prove it!, Mr. Capezzuto continued, calibrates a color monitor and creates industry-standard ICC/ColorSync display profiles that are recognized in virtually all design and publishing software, such as Photoshop(R), Illustrator(R), InDesign(R), and QuarkXpress(R). When used with other color management software such as ColorBlind Matchbox or ColorBlind Professional, Prove it! offers a complete color management system -- from scanner/digital camera to monitor to printer."

Joseph Holmes (www.josephholmes.com), the original author of ColorBlind Prove It!, and an instrumental part of the Alfa and Beta tests for Prove It! OS X, commented, " The new profile gives a much more accurate soft proof. In fact it's so accurate, that when I hold the paper just right, I literally can't see any difference between the screen and the print."

For automated monitor color management in a local area network, ColorBlind Prove it! Network allows any networked computer running Mac OS X to be used as a network administrator to view the color and luminance characteristics of all the calibrated monitors on the network. The color administrator can then automatically set all of the monitors to a common setting, effectively color matching each of the monitors to one another. Owners of flat panel LCD displays, CRTs and laptops now have an answer for accurate calibration. ColorBlind Prove It! has options built-in especially for calibrating and profiling flat panels.

"Color integrity has grown to become one of the most important elements of digital imaging and publishing," said Capezzuto. "Our suite of ColorBlind software enables users (both novice and professional) to produce images that are accurate and consistent across a wide variety of hardware and software platforms."
